Chinese whisky

What's in a name?

Each distillery has a tagline.

I wanted to characterise Sullivan's Cove during the Hosken Era as: MAKING THE FAKE WHISKY. That tag was never going to make the cut. I wanted to characterise the Lark Distillery as: MAKING THE SCOTCH WHISKY. Ditto. I had another characterisation in mind for Corra Linn: MAKING THE CHINESE WHISKY. That tagline was rejected by the distillery. MAKING THE ORIENTALIST WHISKY is a replacement that hardly connects with the still made in China (copied from a German design, though it is) and the spirit created for the Chinese palate.
